States of Passage – 2026
This body of work investigates the experiential space of
transition, the unstable territory where perception, memory,
and presence begin to shift. Within expansive atmospheric
fields, traces of landscape, light, and human gesture appear
not as fixed representations of place, but as fragments of an
interior geography. The environments unfold as
psychological terrains in which distance, solitude, and
silence become active forces shaping perception.
Across the series, light operates as both structural and
metaphoric agent, gradually emerging through dense
atmospheric formations. Rather than illuminating a
destination, it reveals states of becoming: moments in
which the self is suspended between surrender and
awareness, dissolution, and emergence. Human presence is
often reduced to minimal traces, a figure, a path, a distant
imprint emphasizing the fragile scale of the individual
against vast, shifting spatial fields.
By destabilizing the boundary between landscape and inner
experience, States of Passage proposes transition as a
continuous condition rather than a defined event. The
paintings invite contemplation of those quiet intervals in
which identity loosens, certainty recedes, and
transformation begins to take form within the silent
architecture of perception.
